Aural Warnings through headsets
« on: July 02, 2020, 07:37:43 PM »
Hi,

I’m wondering if anyone knows on Ryanair Fleet they have GPWS, Aural warning callouts etc through the headsets or are these sounds all through the Aural warning box down near the FO side at the TQ?

Hello,

No, those warnings don't go through the headset. They are very loud so you will definitely hear them. It's even so loud that without a headset, you will certainly be surprised when you will hear them. However, the flight deck door is a good noise canceling as you will barely hear them on the first row.

Cheers

As I understand it "vocal" warnings come from the overhead speaker; sounds from the box at the FO side. Right?

Unfortunately not yet. I am still pretty sure that it comes from the 2 speakers (1 CAPT side 1 FO side).

On our approach, we had some issues with the Tower frequency so it became very busy.

Keep you updated, next flight is on Monday.

Nice one!

I am pretty sure that the aural warnings are electronic and not mechanical. We have two speakers, one on the FO side and one on the CAPT side. All warnings go through them and it is pretty loud. This is why I am not sure we hear them through the headset or not. My guess will be yes but the speakers are louder so they take a bit over.

EDIT: although the fire belt could be physical when you know how Boeing works...

Cheers

So I paid attention last flight: speakers only. No headset.

So all voice warnings, GPWS, TCAS etc are all through speakers?

Correct.

The logic is: 2 approves speakers. If your headset breaks down or has issues, or the ACP has issues, then you will still have warnings. Also, I guess the wiring is different, this is why we don't have it in the headset.
